Evelyn Lee, FAIA | NOMA

Candidate for 2024 First VP | 2025 President

Gabriella Bermea, AIA, NCARB, NOMA

Hello, my name is Gabriella Bermea. I’m an associate and design architect with VLK Architects in Austin, Texas. Practicing in the educational sector. I have the privilege of serving nationally as a part of our Young Architects Forum Advisory Committee as a communications director for 2023 and 2024—an editor-in-chief of Connection Magazine.

On the state level, I serve as the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Chair for the Texas Society of Architects, and at the local level, I serve as the Membership and Community Outreach Commissioner on the Board of Directors for AIA Austin.

I first heard of Evelyn last year when she was running for First Vice President, and I’m so grateful to hear that she’s looking forward and moving forward into pursuing this role today. We also connected over our mutual history with the Young Architects Forum. I love to see the program develop so many leaders as we move forward, and to hear that Evelyn had been involved in, it was a no-brainer that we needed to meet and we needed to talk and gain her wisdom and insight.

Evelyn is the best fit for this role due to her insight, innovation, and influence. As we move forward into the next hundred presidents of the American Institute of Architects, she brings forward a character of growth, of inspiration, and of knowledge to those who are incoming into the field and to those who have been long withstanding.

Evelyn has a long career and a long history with the American Institute of Architects from when she first joined her California chapter. I’m thankful to have witnessed it and had her as a friend and leader. I would greatly support Evelyn and her efforts.
