Evelyn Lee, FAIA | NOMA

Candidate for 2024 First VP | 2025 President

Dave Lamont, Past CEO REVIT

Hi, my name is Dave Lamont and I currently run my own consulting company, Lamont Consulting. I consult with early stage venture backed startup companies. Currently consulting with some really exciting companies in the space of construction tech. Acelab which has a collaboration platform for architects and manufacturers and Higharch, which has a new platform for home builders, which is really exciting. You probably know me as the former CEO of Revit. I ran that company for five years and ultimately sold it to Autodesk where I worked for one year. So I have a great love for architecture and how technology can impact the design and the efficiency of the entire world of architecture.

I was introduced to Evelyn by Vardhan Mehta, who is the founder and CEO of Acelab and heard of her contributions and I’ve actually been studying them and I’m quite frankly, enormously impressed with the really exciting combination of what Evelyn brings to the AIA leadership in terms of both the world of architecture and design and the world of entrepreneurship and the world of technology.

Merging them together , to really build new paths for the world of architecture and the people that work so hard in it.

I truly believe that Evelyn has a set of skills and experience that can be really valuable for moving the AIA forward. As a former CEO of Revit I was fortunate enough to meet many architecture firms both in the US and around the world and really tried to understand the business of architecture as much as I could to see how technology can impact that business.

There’s a need for forward thinking. There is a need for new business models. There’s a need for combining the beauty and aesthetics of what design can bring to our lives, along with new business concepts and allowing technology to really impact the efficiency of that business. And I think Evelyn uniquely has the ability to see all three of those worlds simultaneously, and come up with creative ways as a leader to help the organization move forward. In a way that helps everyone in the world because we all live somewhere. And if we’re fortunate enough for an architect to have designed that space thoughtfully it’s truly an honor. And so moving the entire profession forward in a thoughtful manner can only help the world.

And so I’m excited to see what Evelyn can really bring to the AIA.
